Kangaroo high boots.

Kangaroo after 6 months of city use meeting a variety of heavy rain, urban grime, wine/beer sloshing, muddy parks whilst walking dogs etc. Conditioned with Obenuaf's LP. No polish used, only brushing and damp cloth mopping when required.

If they offered elephant leather for boots, I would buy one in a heartbeat. I had an elephant leather belt that was indestructible and even torching it did not damage it at all.

Kangaroo is great too, my only issue is that they are thinner and can appear more wrinkly. I still have my kangaroo leather soccer boots from almost 20 years ago that I occasionally still use. They are one of the strongest leather by weight no doubt. In contrast, the Nike top of the range synthetic boots I purchased for more than £200 two years ago is already in the bin.

Rosznyai has elephant as an option on their regular price list for the same markup as shell. I imagine Vass could procure it no problem. Ugly as sin tho

In the eye of the beholder...I fancy an elephant chukka or loafer. Anyway, any news on this new "English square toe" last?

Member j ingevaldsson is holding a trunk show in Stockholm 20/9 where Vass will disclose the last. I'll be there and I'm sure ingevaldsson will cover the whole show on his blog with pictures etc.

Hey, ugly has its place sometimes! I like the idea of heffalump or hippo for an indestructible winter boot

How about a reasonably-priced shell boot or cheap calf equivalent?  See my sig!

Sweating on that V/V MTO in the mean time...

They have one nice-looking last - this one.  And once you've tried Meermin, the difference in quality control and responsiveness is appreciated, as is the wide range of size options. But yeah, each to his own.  Me, I dabble in a lot of things!

Any ideas for another MTO?

Yeah, their customer service wouldn't be a great help from the UK I don't expect. I used Meermin purely as my first foray into HW construction. (All my Meermin are LM)
I've got an idea to revisit the gunboot but won't derail the thread any more; I'll do some digging and PM you

I meant mainly that they won't send out stuff that they've cocked up. Sound familiar?  But yeah, Vass is the way forward.  I'll wait for your PM!

Nice, looking forward to his report, I hope the lower instep makes it possible for me to wear Vass shoes properly.

The insoles of one of my pairs of Vass shoes have come up. How do people re-attach it? Glue or something else?
