The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...) - Page 827

I'm referring to ironist's burgundy MTOs that aren't longwings. :)  These are longwings:

These are not: Hosting provided by FotoTime Pardon the non-Vass content. The Vass boots posted by Greg earlier in the thread are longwings.

Mimo, as usual, is right.  The first few pics that ironist quoted are shortwings - hence my confusion.  The longwings show up as one continues to scroll - which I don't always do when viewing on my phone.

i used to hate the budapest last.

the more i see it the more i ponder the delight it might bring to me to own a pair for casual outfits.

Of course. But why worry?

The Budapester last is wrongly accused of bulbousness and uglicity. When viewed from the height of + or - six foot, the walled toe looks nothing like the SF macro photos would have us presume. It's nice for high or hammer toes as well, though best reserved for leisure pairs for obvious reasons. This last kicks shit and muck while giving zero fücks to Art History majors or other aesthetic types.

...and yes, the Vas Budapester last is much more modest than Dinkelacker monsters.

Not at all. It is a terrific and distinctive shape. Just give it a try. I think if you enjoy shoes that have character, be that a chiseled or tall toe or something else, you'll like them.

I don't hate the Budapest last.  But it's not really for me.  P2 is as far as I go down that road.  For those that embrace that particular aesthetic, rock the heck out of them and don't worry about who it pleases beyond yourself.

Vass' Odd Sizing?

Left: F-Last size 42 blucher

Right: Budapester-Last size 43

thoughts?

cheers, Al

ps: the Budapester is a freaking handsome and elegant last!

No surprise there: the F last has a much more extended toe.  Look where the widest point of each shoe is in relation to the heel i.e. the "heel to ball" which is the best single measure of fit.  You even have a hint from the crease over the ball of the foot in each case, that the distance is a shade longer on the Budapester.

And it is handsome indeed.  I feel a kopping coming on.  But if you don't want that 43 Budapester, I'll tell you where to send it. :)

I don't see a problem, should I? The f-last will per design be longer in toe, and the budapester looks wider at the middlefoot and heel.

Don't know, Budapester is supposed to be short and stubby, F is a pretty long last and fit is on the slimmer side.
