How did you go? vass take a bit of wearing in, but heel lock is excellent.

after tweaking the fit, u last is the best fitting vass last. heel is snug, ball of foot is also snug but not tight. Just wish the toe wasnt so pronounce. i think eg 888 has the best square toe

Anyone has the U-last made wider? I am having horrible pinky toe crush on mine and don't think I need to size up.

Don't even think about it.  Just give up the last or go bespoke at Ugolini or other Italian makers.

A wider width means the ball width will be wider.  Due to the shape of the last, the width increase at the toe box will only be a small fraction of the width increase at the ball.

As we've discussed, the 40 has the best fit; heel is snug, width is at the right spot, and length works well. The problem has always been the instep which is still too high on the standard U.

On my end of the size spectrum it works well. Did you alter the fit while you were in the store?

I decided on an ankle boot hoping that the higher closure around the ankle will work better. Here is what I got: Dark brown museum

I had mine made in U Last G Width. Fit is pretty good. It was an Oxblood Chukka. Looks sleek too.

How did you tweak the fit? Or did you visit Vass in person to take advantage of their semi-bespoke service?

Badsha and Chogall, thanks for the advice.

Badsha, could you post a pick at your convenience?

Thanks

I width up. Ball width good. Toe box still too narrow. Ended up stretching it. Still snug but no pain. If I width up any more it's gonna be to wide for my heels.

If it's cap toe, cordovan, exotic leathers, good luck. Those have much less give to stretching.
