The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...) - Page 723

As Vass use their own colour names, I suspect that "cognac" might be either in Horween definitions according to which is available.

I seem to recall a post comparing the two, and saying one was more orange/yellow than the other. Is that maybe just batch to batch variation of the same official color from Horween?

vass shell cordovan colors from rezso:

Dark Brown
Cigar
#8
Antique Cognac
Whiskey (resembles alden ravello)
Saddle (orange/tan)
Boudreaux
Black

Difference between whiskey and saddle can be hard to distinguish especially in taken with flash. For example, compare Rezso's pic of vass whiskey norweger to mine

^That is incredibly helpful; thanks! :fistbump:

I can confirm the Meermin experience. 18% duty, 13% HST, and if you're really lucky, an added "brokerage fee" as the cherry on top. And because it's easier, most couriers apply to the duty to both the cost of the goods AND the shipping costs. Lovely.

If Vass ships by courier, I can almost guarantee a similar experience. Every time I have had shoes imported by courier, this has been the result - or worse. About 8 or 9 times out of 10 that I import by trackable post, the package has come to my door with nothing more to pay. Worth waiting a week, IMO.

Thank you for the very useful information.

#8 and Bordeaux are different? That doesn't sound right. Perhaps just a different batch, or more energetic polishing of the upper pair?

X-posted from the Vass group buy thread.

I'm looking to get a couple of models on the Vass group buy. I haven't tried Vass, and would appreciate some guidance on Vass sizing.

These are the sizes and lasts that fit me very well:

G&G: 6E all lasts. The G&G lasts fit me the best

EG: 6E 82, 888 lasts (I haven't tried any other last)

Carmina: 6 in Rain, 6.5 in Simpson (I haven't tried any other last)

Saint Crispins: 5.5 in Chiseled last (model 523) (not sure about the width of the model, haven't tried any other last)

I'd like to consider on of the sleeker lasts in Vass (U or F?). I like snug shoes.

What size, width should I go for? Thanks...

#8 is supposed to be darker than bordeaux. best to show a pic to vass and make sure everyone on the same page

clearly can see 3 shades of burgundy here

Pretty sure vass only offers bordeaux not "no8" which is a alden color, I'm assuming horween dyes them all with slight variation and they tend to darken with time anyway
post #10844 of 20276
No8 is Horween's colour not Alden's

im just relaying information from vass. in any case its best to just send them a pic of what you want instead of trying to explain it
