Good morning everyone, it was great to read the posts regarding my new shoes. Hey Slewfoot, I love the cigar! Gdot, you're absolutely correct.

I've dropped Vass an email to hear their thoughts. They are a friendly bunch and the whole buying process has been fantastic, so I'm expecting this to come to a very amicable end.

Let's draw a line under this. I'll let you know how things conclude.

Perhaps - but in pebble grain. Pretty much a total copy of Rikod's version.

Although it is still months before I have to commit to anything. I reserve the right to change my tune.

Fair enough, but I don't think you are a "pushy complainer" if you return a pair of shoes that are not in the colour you ordered. I also find the apparent attempt to make it look like they were ordered in "whiskey" very questionable, to say the least.

Not at all. Totally fine to return them. One should just be sure the wording is nice and gentle when explaining the situation to them...I highly doubt Vass was being intentionally misleading on the color. I'm sure it was just internal miscommunication.

ha, have you ever sent a pair of shoes to budapest?, good luck. If you really want to do that I recommend to sell them and order new ones if they have the shell.

internal miscommunication, hehe. I have 20+ pair of Vass and I can tell you that more than half are different than what I exactly ordered, maybe I understand these things because I used to live in a very similar place. They do what they want, period. Live with it or order thru a proxy that takes responsibility for the details. I've even come to like it, i'm all exited waiting for my orders to see what they decided to do, it's really fun, just keep an open mind and you will like it much more, you know, that whiskey is 100 times nicer than cigar. I just ordered a pair with natural edge soles and they sent them painted, after a few days i realized I was an idiot and they look much better the way they are. And I totally agree with slewfoot, be nice no matter what.

on a serious note to all the shell experts, which i'm not: can the shell not be darkened over the time with your tlc and receive a personal flair?

Alden shells can either darken or lighten with exposure to sunlight. #8 lightens and whiskeys darken.

+1 their seems to be some sort of "shell equilibrium" to which all colors gravitate towards

whiskey -> ravello -> SHELL EQUILIBRIUM <-cigar <-#8

Very good NAMOR - so can I expect my whiskey's to turn into ravello? I could stick them on a sun bed to expedite the darkening..

I could not live with this. I think I will have to go to Budapest and try them on if I want some Vass. :)
