Here are the Norwegers in Whiskey shell and the Cigar shell. I stand by my logic that the Whiskey gets the edge. It is both more casual and more dramatic - a combination that is difficult to pull off.

Yes, I agree re the colour being a whiskey variant. In fact, coincidently, there was a folded up note in the shoe, looks like a handwritten requirements definition for my shoes, it actually says "whiskey" on it....:embar:
I feel a little upset, considering I requested cigar, was told I would be getting cigar (albeit "light" cigar..), and they end up whiskey, with the original make up instructions to match!
Not sure if I should be pissed, or just glad that I like the shoes. The fit is great, btw, but I do feel like I had the wool pulled over my eyes a little.

I really like the colour of your shoes, but if you wanted and ordered them in cigar, you should complain. I don't think it's okay that they come in another colour. Unless, of course, if you think that you were actually lucky to get them in whiskey, and you feel that it adds something extra to the shoes, more than you bargained for.

It's fair to mention something to Vass, but I would certainly do it very gently if you do at all. If you decide to keep the shoes it seems fine to say that "the shoes are wonderful and fit great! It seems like they came in Whiskey shell as opposed to Cigar shell, but I love them either way." If you decide to return them you are obviously entitled to do so, but just choose wording carefully. I imagine you'll want to do future orders as the shoes fit and being labeled right off the bat as a pushy complainer is never a good thing. The perspectives of seller and buyer are always more than meets the eye.

Fair enough, but I don't think you are a "pushy complainer" if you return a pair of shoes that are not in the colour you ordered. I also find the apparent attempt to make it look like they were ordered in "whiskey" very questionable, to say the least.

Not at all. Totally fine to return them. One should just be sure the wording is nice and gentle when explaining the situation to them...I highly doubt Vass was being intentionally misleading on the color. I'm sure it was just internal miscommunication.

I completely agree with you, and agree that the best solution is to be civil and calm and straight to the point if the matter should be brought up to Vass. to "thecentennial": if you like the shoes, all is fine. In that case wear them well, and if not, and you want to return them, then I hope everything works out for you.

If you need dark brown, then you really need it. Otherwise, the whiskey is a really stunning look for a casual shoe. I have almost the same thing in antik Cognac (welted, no taps), and I like it very much.
