I like your experience with Vass. It seems you know more about their lasts than most.
I have a high instep and I have few pairs in their U last. I am a Euro 47 or US 13E. They made me a last based on my description and fit is OK, but could be better. I like more contemporary styles.
What last(s) would you recommend?

So they altered an existing last for you? If so sounds like you should stick with that and just alter a bit further either through Kolecho or your previous contact. If you choose a new last the F could be good. To be honest, in a size 47 / 13 I would seriously consider the 3636 last. It has a classic shape with a high instep and in a size that big I imagine it would look quite elegant. Something to contemplate.

:fu:
apparently I ordered the Vass norweger without even knowing it. back in May, I was in discussion with Vass to have a norweger split toe in built on the F last. Asked for metal taps, trees, cognac shell. The discussion trailed off, i never received an invoice, never received a confirmation of an order, yet the other day I get an email stating my shoe is ready. In whiskey... not cognac. Efffffffffffff
i will give Vass some credit for being timely. In our discussions back in May, Mr. Kuti said beginning of October they would be ready (if I decided to order)

Congrats - I think! :^)

I'm not really sure if Vass does a Cognac Shell so they may have considered Whiskey the closest thing. I wonder if a bit of mahogany polish would make it more to your liking. Before doing so I would just do some research on the effects of darker color polishes on lighter shell colors. Regardless, I would first see how the shoes look either in person or via photographs.

;) Maybe it was meant to be. Did you ask them to send pics?

The typical Vass Norweger style is really great and unique. I'm tempted to order another pair. Just not yet though - so says my wallet!

They sound great Namor.

In my experience Vass gets an order exactly right about 50% of the time.
Major F... Ups about 30% of the time, inc. wrong color + style- but they've never got the size wrong.

All part of the charm and excitement.

I'm actually glad they messed up one of my orders - I know I wouldn't have worn my original design had i received it!

Anhony Delos sells out to Berluti (LVMH)!
Anthony Delos has sold his firm to LVMH (owners of Berluti). His workshop will be owned by LVMH and Anthony and his staff will be only employees. It is a sad news that someone so talented like Antony Delos is forced to come under the umbrella of LVMH. In the future it is possible to see an Antony Delos RTW. Delos has been self-employed since 2004 and has built a strong reputation.

do you think there might be a language barrier causing these miscommunications? i mean, i understand if too many details can become overwhelming but everything is in email for easy reference. its especially frustrating when you you agree on something but get a surprise out of left field. thank goodness they were made in shell. whewww

definitely- transcription errors- even with specs in a bolded list

u could check with Gdl but i don't know that the color in that pic of his U Norwegers is accurate. I've seen other pics where they look much darker.

Oh god, been obsessing over this thread for days.

Desperate for some F last oxblood oxfords.

Do I dare roll the dice on sizing?

Is there anyone who is a 7.5 C&J348 and 8UK normally who has got a successful fit in the new F last?

I don't think there's a last that their Norwegers don't look good on.

And it's a great color. I have a pair in Antik Cognac calf, and it's roughly the same if a little less exotic.
