you order your vass with the rubber ones?

I have both, most of the single sole have the rubber, and most of the double soles have the steel plate, I like both and they do the job, I wear fast the toe so it's important for me. At first I was not used to the steel but they grew up on me and I really like them.

what I don't like about Vass is what I told you before, it's the rubber part on the heel, most makers do it in a way that part of the rubber inserts into the leather part and they don't need nails. Vass put a rubber piece and put 7 or 8 nails flushed into the rubber, very slippery and dangerous on marble floors etc.

in an ideal world, you shouldn't feel a difference. i do. that's why, i let it go. i need my spleen. i can't do single soles. too painful.

don't fool yourself. the only purpose of the nails is decorational. it belongs to the heritage of handmade shoes, though. they do not add anything to the construction. remember the guy, who wants to lick his soles. sf is a great place to go gaga about showcases and show off.

...and it is an easy fix, amirite?

Have not tried Vass on the street, but had the same problem with the slippery heels at EG - the only pair of shoes so far that almost dropped me down! Have to be carefull even after walking outside.

I also blame the floor types. I have no problem most of the time but once I step into work, with nice polished floors, that's when I have to walk slower. Already almost ate it twice this morning!

what I do is stand on a concrete slab and give is it a nice rub, imo this helps ...

Have worn Vass monks whole day, was surprised - no slippery at all, even on the tiles!





PS The shoes still need a further break-in, I got the pain in the instep in the evening. Width and length are okay.

Hi all,

So I'm close to putting in my order with Vass. Wanted to get some sizing info from the more knowledgeable vass-ites.

I will be ordering a pair of norwegers, new peter last, full goyser, chromexcel.

Now re sizing, 10.5D barrie fits me like a glove - would this equate to a 44 in the P2?

EDIT: Regarding the sole, as these will be a casual shoe, I was hoping I could also get opinions on leather, single vs double or commando vibram type.

Anyone have something similar?
