I have Oxfords in Vass U, F and Carmina Rain. Vass has the higher instep - which works very well for me, but may not do so for all.
Hi Roger, thanks. One more questions, how high is the Rain instep in comparison with the EG888? As high as the F to the Rain?

That one is a tough call. I think that in a standard width and an equivalent size Rain is slightly wider than 888 and thus a bit more accommodating over the instep. But the difference is small if it's there at all.

I'm on the fence ordering these Vass http://s1141.photobucket.com/user/kev7777/media/frenchoxford.jpg.html but I keep holding back because I'm not sure whether I can pull the calf/suede combination off, what clothes to combine it with and how it'd look in real life. Anyone having pictures of the shoe in action? I might find myself purchasing it but in dark brown without suede.

I tried on a pair of Gravati with it and its definitely unique. I think its best for a casual outfit. Cotton trousers/SC. Definitely would wear them with a pair of jeans, sweater and shirt.

I am definitely intrigued by it

I have that pair at home, I'll take some pictures soon!
That would be great, thank you,

Thank you for the reply. That's what I'd suspect. Unfortunately, suits and flannel trousers with shirts and ties are the only things I wear. Although, I think I'm interested in a pair in dark brown in museum calf.

I have a UK10/EUR 44 in C&J 348 last. Which size would you recommend me for a Vass shoe F last?

I own a pair of Grenson Stowe "wholecuts" in dark brown suede and calfskin, distributed much like the shoes in your link. I wear them for business casual with flannels and get compliments whenever I wear them. They're different from other shoes in a very subtle way and I really like that.

The shoes you linked are SWEET!

Good news: My shoes and boots are done and shipped...

Bad news: They were shipped to my old address in NYC and now I live in MI...

Does anyone know which location Mr. Kuti works at? Is he in the Haris köz 2. or 6. shop? Thanks!

X-post from the NMWA thread - for my birthday yesterday my wife finally gave me the Vass she had hidden away from the NMWA sale in Oct. My first pair of Vass and I'm loving these!

Same happened to me before and he was able to redirect the parcel on it's way. Just tell him he has to.

Merry Birthday Fred, love da shooz!

My U last black caps had their first outing yesterday. (To a funeral so no pics :(...)
Very comfortable even though I think I probably need a 42 wide instead of the 42.5 regular I got: Tiny bit of pinky toe crimping and a little creasing into the cap area.
Overall fantastic shooz and I can't wait for my next pair!
