will SF deal with his prices? Its like $25 for a single-serving pizza.

IMO, not a big loss, I get my Neapolitan pies from another place closer to me that IMO is nearly as good but a fraction of the cost and worlds more convenient to get and enjoy.

You know, I never went. I thought about it a few times, but the attitude (as far as I had heard) really put me off.

I'm not convinced that the new owner/operator will be a downgrade.

Where's that?

Luzzo's on E. 96th, far from you I know but right next to the 6 train. It was recommended by Ambrosi in some other thread, I'll trust his taste for authentic Neapolitan pizza. I've become addicted since. The classic with buffalo mozzarella is like $15 for a multi-person pizza. Worth it.

Basic slices of cheese to go are $1.50, a bargain (though its not buffalo mozzarella).

These threads, and NY'ers in general, always amaze me. You guys talk about any spot in the city and it's like everybody already knows automatically where it is and exactly how far it is from them and how long it takes them to get there. I haven't found that with any other city, at least not to the same degree.

I actually just read today that a SF move may not be true and that he is taking some time off. The latest rumor is that he may go back to NJ and open somewhere near Red Bank. I used to go to his place back before he made the move up here. Here's a link to the article on SliceNY

In large part Manhattan is one large grid. There are 10 avenues running north/south, and let's call it 90 streets running east/west. That's about 4+ miles long and a little over 1.5 miles wide. That's 6 square miles... maybe 10. It's not all that large of a place. And the grid makes it pretty easy to know where things are located.

San Francisco, by comparison - is 7.5 miles wide (Bay to Breakers), and roughly 4 miles north/south (Marina to Castro's southern edge). That's 30 sq miles. So SF covers a lot more territory.

BUT.... people in NYC are pretty sharp, relatively. I met people in SF who were absolutely clueless about geography.

Sounds like Flour + Water might have some competition.
