Check LTH Forum or Chowhound Chicago - this is common at Schwa. It's very difficult to get anyone on the phone or to have your calls returned; some think it's part of the charm.

Yeah I'd heard that it is open, just that it has the same problems you just outlined. Best bet is to just keep trying to call.

It's open, it's just impossible to reach anyone or get a call back. Keep trying. It'll be worth it.

Make sure you actually pay them for the meal.

+1, they answer phones rarely. Keep trying.

Many office phones and phone plans offer the ability to redial a particular number until it is answered.

Call the hotel concierge where you will be staying or use your CC concierge.

That won't work either. How is the concierge going to get through?
I called twice daily for 7 weeks before I finally got someone to answer my call. But, it was worth every second on the phone and every penny on the bill.

I have found the better hotels have a relationship with the top restaurants. You don't think the Penisula hotel concierge goes to the yellow pages when Brad Pitt wants a reservation? I know he is not BP, but my point is they have numbers you don't have access to.
