Why is everyone here againt blacksuits/pants? - Page 3

Not true; I hate and am against black suits per se.

This sums it up pretty well Post counts astound some, and they blindly follow whatever they are told instead of developing their own sense of style. The most common suit color I actually saw when I was in college for Finance was black...some may say it's because they are just starting off, but now that I'm going into law it's very interesting to see the large number of lawyers pictured in black suits too.

I'm not saying this is best for everyone, I've seen it look really bad, especially in our St. Louis summers.... But I've seen black suits pulled off really well. My French girlfriend (who is very opinionated about clothes and doesn't mind sharing her opinion often ) loves a very slim fitting black Givenchy suit I have (marked gray like they seem to do.... but this is seriously the blackest gray the world has ever known) and I like to wear it sometimes for going out to a trendy chic spot.

Don't just limit yourself from the start because of what a message board focusing on a minority of people says, try things out for yourself and see what works for you and your wardrobe. There are so many variables that there is no one right answer: your style, wardrobe, attitude, location (big one), etc.

This is an insoluble ideological struggle.

Outside of a dog, a black suit is a man's best friend. Inside of a dog, it's too dark to tell what color a suit is. (Deepest apologies to Groucho.)

Because someone that they would rather be told them that's what they should think.

Everyone is not against black suits and trousers - just a vocal view who will swamp this thread with their irrational answers. if you like them,. as I do, then enjoy them. Don't fall for the herd instinct.

You make sure and let us know when that happens.

So your definition of 'own sense of style' is to follow what people are wearing in college, law school, everywhere but in SF, as you don't wanna blindy follow anyone here, especially those with high post count.

Fortunately, the black suit haters will never get in power, they lack discipline and strategic planning.

I know it is easy to interpret things how ever you want when you already have an opinion, but try to keep up please, I most certainly did not say that. I don't think too many people on this forum, the Men's Clothing one at least, fit the typical American college mold: shorts, hoodies, flip-flops, t-shirts, etc. On a side note, black is not at all a very common suit color for me to wear, especially during the day, and I wear a suit every weekday to work. I also never stated what my "definition" of "sense of style" is, but thanks anyway...

To conclude, I am saying to you that observing something and commenting on it is not the same as following it, try to remember


And try to keep your cartoon collection to yourself...it is a little scary....
