How accurate are stationary bike calories burned?

I am relegated to a stationary bike due to a recent shattering of the kneecap.

I know that on a treadmill the calories burned/mile varies greatly with your weight, so the calorie counters are grossly inaccurate and exaggerated.

Does the same go for stationary bikes? It seems to me that they can more accurately gauge calories burned because the user's weight is not as big of a factor.

I usually go for 30 minutes/300 calories burned, but would have to do more if they are exaggerated like on treadmills.

Thanks, those were somewhat helpful. It seems that a stationary bike would be able to measure the energy needed to turn the wheel inside and that the calorie count would be less dependent on the user on a stationary bike than on a treadmill. Any thoughts?
