How old is too old to have a theme party?

"A friend of mine" is on the right side of 35 and is looking to have a wrestling theme party. There will be no wrestling, just people creating their own character and basically staying in character for most of the party. Dumb or too lame?

You mean a "former friend," right?

I'd attend a mudwrestling party where the female guests get in their bikinis and try to pin each other down in edible mud. Yeah, that's it.

Why wrestler? Why not your favorite philosopher?

Hmm. IMHO, Theme parties have their place for major holidays, times like Halloween, Fourth of July, Arbor Day, and thus are not subject to age restrictions. Also, some themes are also timeless: Key party, Dress as your favorite dom/sub, Nurse/patient, Rockstar/groupie, Elvis, and also are not subject to age restrictions.

But a guy in his 30's hosting a wrestling party? Is he a virgeen?

Nope, just emotionally stunted.

Never. As long as the booze is flowing, there are scantily clad women and no children , it's quite mature.

It's a little odd, I think, but some people like the whole theme thing. Though if he's bent on a theme, it would seem to me that there are more age appropriate themes out there. Maybe something like a formal evening?

That said, event though I think it's kind of weird I'm mostly willing to say "to each his own" here, but the request to stay in character is a little much.

That's a better way of putting it. Sounds like a 22-year-old I used to know. I guess if that's what he and his friends go for, then

Theme Party = OK.

Wrestling Theme Party != OK.

At any age.

Having seen what the average wrestler wears and what the average 35 yo's body looks like at the beach, what would make you think putting these two together was a good idea?
