ebay shipping costs

Thread Starter
They piss me the fuck off. I'm in the lead for an item with $13 in shipping charges. That's 1/5th the total price of the item and there is NO FUCKING WAY postage will be close to $13 on the envelope, box, or however it gets shipped. Now I don't begrudge people who need recompense for their time or acquiring shipping materials but there comes a point where it gets excessive. IE: when one is shipping a small, half pound object.

Sorry for the rant.

^ Complain when people want to charge you $35 to ship a cotton shirt.

You don't pay fees on shipping costs hence why people jack them up

Honestly Ebay is getting pretty fucking tired. New restrictions on payment, restrictions on receiving payments, shipping costs jacked by the sellers, costs to do this, that and the other. That company is really going to sink itself, and I can't wait for the day.

If it pisses you off this much, don't bid on those items. Apparently it doesn't make you mad enough.

You don't like the terms of the sale, don't bid on it. What's so difficult about this concept?

well....

(1) as a shopper, i could care less how much profit the seller is making....my only concern is that the "total" price is the lowest....

if the total price is lower than anywhere, WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING?
if it is not the lowest, WHY ARE YOU SHOPPING THERE?

(2) ebay is fucked up now....while some things are understandable, as said above, payment restrictions, payment holds, selling restrictions, DSRs, tons of buyer scammers, ridiculous fees e.t.c. are beyond the point and makes no sense....

think about it like this, on average, ebay (and paypal) takes about 20% of your selling price....
that's a lot.....a lot
a lot of sellers on ebay earn their living from profits....and really cannot be giving away items at cost or for free...
so don't really expect bargain prices, unless the seller needs a quick sale or does not know the market value of what he is selling...

I agree. Ebay used to be a go-to place for me to find great shit at a cheap price. Now not only has the selection VASTLY died down because sellers don't want to be outrageous fees (it adds up BIG TIME when you're doing it for a living), but half of the stuff is fake and taken over by huge Hong Kong/Turkey counterfeiters (I.E. Paul & Shark... they drove the price of the brand on Ebay down because of the huge influx of fakes making buyers weary to even purchase at all)

I understand the sellers charging a little over normal shipping charges because it is ridiculous the fees ebay/paypal charge. Im with the guy up top, I can't wait for the day ebay falls apart.

Bid based on total price. What's the problem? I usually set shipping costs higher too so paypal doesnt gyp me out of that extra 20 cents.

Ebay is going to be implementing maximum shipping prices per category, with a gradual move to mandatory free shipping.

Ebay sucks and is still the only viable auction site for NA/EU.

Some sellers can get a little crazy with shipping rates. Personally, I just go for the overall best price. I hate some of the policy changes that ebay has made over the years but I still find some great deals.

I don't see why people would want Ebay to go belly up. Ebay is better than no Ebay, mostly because there really is no viable alternative to used and exotic buying opportunities. The only companies whose shit I'd like to see keel over and die are Blockbuster, Kinkos, Applebee's, and maybe AOL.

Whilst I love the variety of goods available on ebay, shipping to Australia is almost always a kick in the pants...
