A friend of mine from Europe has one of the most extensive collections of LVC imaginable. It includes just about every edition ever done. We have been trading denim and especially LVC with long inseams for many years. Over dinner recently he was telling me that he is in touch with both Eric Clapton and The Edge (of U2) who are big fans of LVC and collectors as well. He has helped to locate special models for them.

Anyone else know of notable LVC fans?

Steve Jobs. He also collects long sleeve black turtle neck and new balance sneakers I suppose.

I think there is a thread here (or on another forum), in which people discussed the Levi's that Jobs wear from pictures of him.

Clapton is a particular fan of the original LVC "1935 201", which is really more of a 501 replica. LVC fans should check out this page at SuFu: http://www.superfuture.com/supertalk...4314&page=1395 Quite a few models which, tragically, didn't make production, including the wonderful 1920s Balloon pants.

If anyone is interested in some LVC 551zxx's size 30x34, I'm selling them on eBay for $130 USD shipped within the US.

Here's the auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...STRK:MESELX:IT

I cannot fit in these well enough to wear them out and they appear to be new because they do not have any set creases in the legs or upper thigh area. Don't miss out.

Very nice pick-ups, Paul!

Thanks Simon! Many of the choice items went to an LVC nut friend in SF and otehrs (at cost I hasten to add) but I kept a nice pair of Lot 66, which I've always wanted - great knackered pants for the summer - and the striped shirt, which is now one of my favourite items. It's the best LVC sample sale I've seen in seven or eight years... I can't justify getting much more denim for me, but it's fun to spread it around. You can't go to these things with anything specific in mind - which is why roy6 was so lucky to get those wonderful and incredibly rare Balloons. PM me with your emails so I can record your tastes in case there's every another one! This shirt also never made production and went to Preston Mystery cinchback dungarees, also went to roy6 in SF Mustard chinos went to Paris Stone chinos, to another guy in San Fran

Hi superbobo! I miss you over at SuFu!

They produced the samples - but the retailer response wasn't good enough, that's why they didn't make it to production. A real shame.. I'm fine that they do the RRL-style distressed items, as long as it's balanced by lots of raw stuff, but it seems the retailers are going with the former.

Off the top of my head no, I don't know of any chinos with that real classic 30s balloon cut, and high rise.
Thanks Paul, for some reason styleforum seems a bit more friendly these days, or atleast smaller. I wonder if the general move/"trend" towards raw denim is over? I have a hard time seeing myself buying generic pre-washed denim... However, those over-the-miner-top ones you got are great! re oldschool chinos: Buzz Rickson! I have two cuts, the slimmest (orginal spec) and the mid wide ones (early khakis, 1945), where the latter are a WW2 repro. "Really" wide, high rise, great fabric. There also exist a 1942 version which is even wider... edit: might not be the 30s balloon cut you are refering to though?
The Buzz Rickson would probabyl be my go-to chinos (if I could afford them) but I haven't seen that Balloon silhoutte, which is pretty distinctive, almost like an 80s peg leg, but very elegant. Of course, we don't know how that sample actually looks, as a fit...

If you can afford LVC, you can afford BR The LVC "balloon" chinos looks very straight to me however.

Does anyone know someone of influence that works a Levis on LVC? If so, PM me. I want to contact them about bringing back 38" and 40" inseam on raw denim models.

If you are over 6' tall you probably need a 34" after shrinking right? Most shrink 4 so a 38 or 40 is needed especially if you want to roll a cuff."
