But based on what he posted that might be flirting with disaster in the long run. Unless he religiously only cold-soaked for the life of the jean they would likely (eventually) shrink down to less that a 34 inseam.

I hear it works for some people, but I've always avoided any unsanforized denim sized in such a way that it required strict adherence to a cold soak regimen less they shrink too much. This is partly because I'm picky about the inseam. I would be very displeased to put several months into breaking in a great pair, getting them to where I like them, only to have the inseam shrink to a point that I was no longer happy about.

Having said that it, it occurs to me that some have had luck in stretching a shortened inseam by tugging it hard while the denim is wet (and getting as much as an extra inch) so I suppose that offers a bit of security. But I'd still rather hold out and size appropriately (and conservatively) from the outset.

Yeah - I was able to pull out an inch, inch and a half from a pair of 47s. It's not unheard of.

Don't know if anyone's seen yet - Jcrew is doing raw LVC on their website (44,47,54,66), rather than just marked up Levi's base-brand stuff. Only up to a 34 inseam though, so horrible if you're over like 5'9, assuming you actually wash your denim like a sane person.

So this is the 484 they were talking about in the J Crew thread. Details/fit pics? Because I still think they look like Gap jeans from the site's pics.

No no - it's authentic LVC denim. The 484 is a marked-up JCrew jean. Scroll down further.

Stumbled onto some 70's 501's today

Oh yeah. I have a pair of LVC 505s for sale if anyone's interested. Tagged size 29/32 and there's a BARNEYS NEW YORK tag with the price $139 scribbled on it Tried it on a few times, practically new. Will tentatively let it go for $90+shipping or probably lower if you give a reasonable offer

Great find robbie!

Robbie, you are a thirftshop artisan.

What's the button code on the 501? And are they double stitched on the back pocket?
Pablo- 6 on the top button (San Fran, no?) These had the same sorts of 'love notes' on the interior as those 302's I had a while back, i don't remember if you'd seen any pictures of them or not . Is there any significance to the 1501? I've seen lots of the 505-0217, or 517-0117, but I'd never come across 1501?

After just 10 wears my 55's stretched back to original raw size in the waist.

Yours shrunk quite a bit given you only gave them a cold soak; I lost a total of 2.5 inches in the waist after an initial warm soak and then a super hot soak.
