Poll results aren't surprising given this is a predominantly male forum. If they don't make it in manual transmission, I am not buying it.

Pretty much everyone here learns in a manual. Autos are usually reserved for larger, more luxurious cars. Probably has a lot to do with UK and Europeans traditionally revving the tits off of tiny-engined superminis to get as much performance as possible whilst still getting 30+ mpg on expensive fuel on our relatively small roads.

I feel you get a lot more control of the car with a manual, especially when you live in an area full of twisty country lanes.

I loathed driving for the first seven years post-license, when I only drove an automatic. I've been driving a manual for about a month now, and I actually daydream about driving now. I'll never buy another automatic.
