what I mean is, for all intensive purposes, I think Leoville Las Cases can compete relatively favorably with the $300, $400, and $500 siblings. I nearly jumped on a bottle of the 2004 for $120. Expensive as a whole, but but far cheaper than most first growths and, IMO, not exactly a big step down. This is what I mean by value, not just wines under $20.

Been on their wait list for 3-4 years and have never gotten an email like that. Btw, this was from Kosta Browne.
My birthday is Feb 15th. Not trying to imply anything... just putting that info out there for a good friend.

I have eccos too. This makes me feel less small-timerish.

Oh man, dinner tonight was great. Mush, shallots, pasta (Dreamfields, no carb), pesto, and shrimp sauteed off in olive oil and pesto. Matched it with this:

Notice the new Vinum Montrachet glass

You mentioned it when you were here, but what the fuck is in no carb pasta?

BTW, foodguy, you should know by now that cooks look at guys like you and automatically think: big and powerful bigtimer, considering you can make us or break us.

Tastes like a good, dried pasta, such as Barilla.

I want you guys to know that this thread is breaking me. I have virtually no self control and the constant thinking about wine is really straining what little I have. Got a FedEx delivery both yesterday and today (2 more coming next week). Stopped off at a wine store on the way home. I've lost all semblance of restraint.

I am buying vicariously through you.
Between eating at Cyrus, La Folie, buying $100s of in wine, and taking my gf out to a bunch of decent but expensive restaurants, I'm maxed out.

BTW Pio, sounds ewwy.

LOL, I know what it's like. Oh boy, do I know what it's like. We're drinking a bottle every weeknight, just trying to get some room for wine we've already committed to.

Mark, I will be in grave danger tomorrow and may well end up doing something very stupid. The last time I went to a Zachy's tasting (a mere two weeks ago) I walked out with more than a case of wine.

Ironically, all this wine purchasing and I'm sitting here drinking a whiskey cocktail. WTF.

What, you don't trust my palate by now? Seriously, can't tell the difference. Now, whole wheat pasta? Bleh.

It's dangerous. I find myself analyzing my Cellar Tracker and saying, "hmmmm, too heavy toward the Cabs/Bordeaux, need more [Chard, SauvBlanc, Italians, Rieslings,...]". Then guess what...WTSO or Cindy puts up something that fits what I "need". During my stop at the wine store on the way home they still had half bottles of the 2003 Chateau Guiraud on sale for $27. I have 8 in the cellar right now and thought, "well, if I get 5 more I can drink one and still have a case to let get really mature." I have 2 kids to put through college. This is getting stupid. My son is taking the SAT in the morning. He better do very well.

Cellar Tracker is contra-indicated when you get the vino bug. I must have spent an hour today on it.

My new 58 bottle VinoTemp is obsolete and it hasn't even shipped yet.
