Cheers, Johnny.

Considering I didn't drink alcohol for 48 years, I've made up for it in the last two! Never had a taste for it. Now, wine is one of the most important things in my life. I love everything about it. Wish I had a taste for it earlier. Or, maybe that was a good thing!

Well you are definitely making up for the 48 years of your life you remained dry. I'm jealous, but at the same time I'm happy I am learning about wine at 23.

Been a busy weekend. No pictures, but Thursday night at a little happy hour at a live jazz lounge attached to a good steak house that has a decent cellar. Vertical tasting of Caymus Special Select Cabernet Sauvignon, from 1995-2003. Needless to say, that was pretty incredible. (I have a "mini-vertical" going...05 and 06, lol).

Friday, we had friends over. Thought I was pulling an SB from NZ, but it was from the RRV. River Road. Not bad. Spicy Thai chicken grilled outside went well with it. Then I opened this for sipping:

Nice wine.

So Saturday I took my senior managers out for dinner. I had worked out a menu with the owner and the wines being poured were 07 Martinelli PN and an SB by Jax Winery. I liked the PN so well, I took home a six pack.

Tonight, a little ME for dinner, 05 Coppersmith.

I'm still dying to crack one of these mags, even though they need to rest for a few years:

It was extremely good. I'd recommend it to anyone. Lush with ripe berries and vanilla. Great fruit, medium tannin for structure.

Last night, Chateau Margaux 1986.... developed beautifully over the course of the evening. I loved this wine. I had it about 6 years ago and it was rather weak, now it's fantastic.

Also had a 1990 Montrose. This got really high scores from a lot of people, a few 100s. I'd prefer to drink this in another 10 or 20 years. It has very impressive legs and nose but my god it's a bit of an ass kicker very tannic and a lot of leather. A good wine but the Margaux was superior.

Also a good Sauternes from 88... don't remember the name but it's a Barons Rothchilds holding. It had developed a nice color... no d'Yquem though.

Started off with La Tour Figeac, a nice wine.

I would kill for a 1986 first growth. Special year for me, and a great vintage in Bordeaux

There are some good ones down River Road.

Probably my second favorite ME. I think I like her namesake vineyard better. When you come to her tasting, however, you'll see the Coopersmith vineyard. Their office is smack dab in the middle of it.

You should come to Cyrus. If not, let's at least meet up for dinner or something.
