Alban, "Reva" Syrah, Edna Valley, California, 2005, last night for a friend's birthday celebration. Rocked, but did not slay.

Nope. We only pour what we sell, and we don't sell baller wines. Because baller wines don't sell.

But after everyone left and it was just Robert and the boss and I, we opened up a 1998 premier cru Pommard that was pretty fantastic.

Drinking this Mallorcan wine tonight. Got it on a lark. It's a little on the heavy side for me. Interesting, but also kind of briny and ashy. Needs a roast or something to go with it. I've never heard of "callet" grapes.

it was pouring rain out, decided to skip this time around. But I bought some of his stuff at a local store anyways, and damn it is good.

Brought this to Easter dinner with my GF's family and it went awesome with the traditional Easter ham:

Had a few Frenchies lately:

2008 Franck Millet Sancerre
2009 Domaine Cherrier Pere et Fils Sancerre
2007 Domaine du Vieux TÃ

graphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau

Also, this Oregon Pinot:

2008 Alexana Pinot Noir Dundee Hills

The Pinot was pretty good but I expect this place to get "discovered" soon with the resulting increase in pricing.

A few from the last week:
08 Scholium Naucratis Verdehlo - a bit too much of everything for me.
08 Scholium Garden of Babylon - I think this is a blend of petit sirah, merlot, and sangiovese. Tasted over two days, it's pretty monolithic and unremarkable.
00 Le Macchiole Scrio - not nearly as good as the bottle I opened around a year ago. That bottle got better and better over several hours. This was hot, out of balance, and just nasty.

08 Alpha Omega Era - A little better than the standard cookie cutter big Napa cab. Could be interesting in a few years, but right now, it's too much of everything. Those liking big wines will like this, it's well made, but it's not my style. The bottle could be used as a weapon or an anchor.
