I have four mags by Peay already. I passed because they are so old world a mag of Syrah will take 15 years to hit its stride.

New to this thread but just ordered my Kosta Brown. Was traveling like a mad bastard on business of late and missed out on the Betz 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Pere de Famille...damnit. Bob and his wife are great people and make some pretty darn good WA juice. Oh well, will have to find this from a retailer

I know what you mean. I didn't have any large formats from them and plan on putting these away for a long long time.

I've had the 2008 Cuilleron and it is really great too. Look for Gangloff or Chateau-Grillet if you want some other viogniers to try at that level. I just haven't been able to come across new world versions that are as good as teh froggy ones. Added bonus, you can't really age these so drink up!

Thanks, I will give those a whirl. I also love how well these drink at a young age.

I agree. Chateau Grillet is kind of different, and I'm not sure exactly why or how, but I find it to be both more enjoyable and a bit more difficult. My favorite is Cuilleron. The new world ones are just flabby.

True - it has the best balance of the three mentioned by far. I've also had it with a bit of age and it seems to hold up, while most other condrieus go dead, probably because their lack of acidity...

Updates on the bottles:

Terra Barossa - I can see why this is the top seller at Total Wine. Very smooth drinking, not too sharp flavors, and not too alcohol-y. Well worth $12

Muir Wood - A little more bite to it than the TB. A bit drier as well. Still very good for $13.
