I'm hoping to get a few things into the LCBO Vintages auction. Seems to happen annually. I can just imagine the fees now.

Cool. Did not know LCBO was doing this. I'm so old I can remember when "Vintages" was a new thing.

Can anyone recommend a good wine discussion/buying/selling forum? I signed up with Wine Spectator forum but it's terribly antiquated and heavily moderated. I posted a week ago and it still hasn't been approved.

Wine Berserkers is heavily active but everyone on there only wants to talk about Roumier Musigny and other 2-barrell, $5K/bottle offerings. Or so it seems.

Wine Beserkers is the one to use. If Style Forum was an all wine forum that would be it. They talk about an array of wines, but their focus is on Burgundy, Piedmont, Rhone and older wines. The site came about when there was a mass exodus from the Robert Parker board when Parker started charging people to use the forums. There is a big anti-Parker sentiment on WB.

Got an odd deal on Saturday. My wine distributor friend has this deal with a local market so he can sell wine to people directly. He gave me a call and said there were two baker's dozen cases waiting for me, go take a look, and if I wanted them they were a flat $7 a bottle. We drove down and pawed through them and bought. Here's a couple bottles from the stash and if anyone knows anything about them let me know:

As I posted in the what are you drinking now thread.. I just moved to Saint Augustine, Florida and this is made by the local winery.

Supposedly, because many are not familiar with the Muscadine grape, people assume that the very undry and sweet nature of this grape assume it is just tourist swill.

All I can say is: I LIKE IT! I would nt take this recommendation anywhere near the same level as some of the experts on here, but I think I've finally found a wine I would drink regularly.

So, Styleforum is two for two on calling me out on that lol. I figured, if people can say they're sending their messages from the death star I can send from a fictitious phone, LoL.

Morrells in Rockefeller plaza has a Louis Jadot tasting right now with four cote de nuits. 15% discount on those but after chatting a bit with them they offered 15% off any Jadot wines but not grand cru. 2010 marsannay for like $17. Yes please

Who the fuck drinks Louis Jadot? confused.gif

people who drink delicious wine.

looks like the 2010 marsannay blanc is going for about $30 elsewhere. they had a single vineyard ("les drazeys") chambolle musigny for $55 after the discount that was very elegant. looks like the closest price is $73.

frown.gif maybe i should go back and get that and drink it with PB

The whites are better than the reds IME. The cheap whites are mostly pretty good. The reds I've had most recently have disappointed, but it's been a while.

I agree. The Chassagne Montrachet La Romanee is a wonderful wine.
