what is the deal with 2003 Bord?
I do think Bordeaux fared best out of any region in 2003 in Europe. The wines are so sturdy already. I think some Chateaux made great wines that year like Montrose and Pontet Canet. But many have that roasted quality. I wouldn't buy blind. I you go to a tasting of them and like a few then great, but proceed with caution.

I have a hard time believing they are falling apart like some articles have recently stated. I don't think many were great to begin with and they are now just awkward. In 20 years they will at least have more secondary characteristics making them more interesting.

I had a no-name St. Estephe last night and it was crazy jammy, like a cult cab. St. Estephe of all things! I was like, WTF???

That's 2003 for you! More are like that than not is the unfortunate thing.

If you can't trust a St. Estephe to be all gravelly, graphitey and dry, then the world has gone completely mad.

Finally a modestly-priced Frenchy that I can get behind. Bold, spicy. Not thin like too many others. Apparently the vineyard now run by Patricia Wells?

i don't understand the thin comment
