silly as it sounds, if you know how to read a list, you will start to see "values" at around $200 for whites and $250 for reds. GCs included.

I just hate wine lists were everything is a 2009 or 2010.

I hear you on that. It's annoying going into a place and seeing a wine list full of stuff you could walk off the street into Crush or Chambers St and buy. Granted, I will take it over a crappy wine list any day of the week--but it certainly does not make for a *great* wine list.

I generally prefer glasses with longer stems.. but 32€ for six bottles of Santa Cristina rosso (which is a good price by itself) and four Riedel Ouverture glasses for free on top? Great fucking deal.
It was even supposed to be the '10, which is, IIRC, a bit more interesting, but it's pretty much sold out everywhere and the '11 is still a good value.

I love to troll for > $12 stuff but I am on a fuck shit run of fruit bombs & padded bras. Latest is this shit bomb Don Ramon Borga which will be my first endeavor into making vinegar. In fact, I'll start a thread.

Picked this up from the local government wine shop (back in PA) without knowing anything about it. Wasn't half bad for $17--might very well buy again. Had a pleasing funk to it.
