Always looking for good value for occasions where busting out better stuff is not sensible.

A place where I go for cheap bord finds it is called BQE wine and liquor. I bought all of the 2005's and they only have 2006's now though.

Almost nobody from outside of VA is allowed to ship to VA anyway. Was hoping it was a national chain.

VA has some draconian liquor laws, that's for sure. If you are moving into the Commonwealth with a reasonable collection (greater than 1 gal), you have to fill out a form documenting all the wine/spirits you are bringing in and get a special permit. Violation is up to a year in jail, confiscation of your vehicle, etc.

Incidentally, if you were closer to Charlottesville, I would recommend my friend's store to you, but it's a haul from Fairfax County.

After a string of clunkers, tonight, finally something good: 99 Rochioli Estate Pinot. Really wonderful, broad on the palate, still firm acidity, fruit holding, and lots of spice. A great example of a RRV pinot improving with age, just a lovely wine.

Drinking Sottimano Barbaresco, 2003 Cottá vineyard. BIG and rich.
