Was it w/r/t Champagne? Do you have more deets, because it really sound strange.
Edit: Sorry to quote something German, but according to an article at DerBerater.de, the study of the FH Geisenheim was related to the storage of Champagne, not red/white wine without co2.
If I am not totally mistaken, the study I was referring to is more recent than the one on Champagne storage. I think one of the last two issues of Vinum had a piece about it in their first few pages.
