This wine is fantastic. GSM but about 40% G. Nose is pepper and spice of Syrah and that certain "foxy" notes I associate with Mouvedre. In the mouth it's all voluptuous Grenache. Finish is pepper and spice of Syrah with some tannins. Love it.

Your word choice reminds me, I like to think of certain wines in terms of women, and I've often thought of Grenache as a voluptous, gorgeous, lively Latina girl. Full of delights, but rather open and up front - everything out on the table. Syrah on the other hand, is a girl with a dark, sultry sort of beauty and a bit of reserve, with innuendo there, but requiring a bit more time and attention to bring out the rewards.

Not sure that was a perfect projecting of my idea of what a certain grape would be as a woman, but it was fun to try. smile.gif

And Mouvedre is a European woman that needs to take a shower.

Gamay is jailbait with braids on the sides of her head.

Case of Kosta Browne bitches.

Btw, sold two of my 09 Sonoma Coasts locally. Got $200 a bottle for them.

why is the 08 less than half the price of the 09? is the 08 that bad or is the 09 that good?

Pure hype. Release for both was $50'ish. 09 Sonoma Coast was Wine Spectator Wine of the Year. Suddenly, going for $250-300 on the Netwebs.

Sunday night- LOVE LOVE LOVE this wine.

BIG. But old-world big. You can put this one down for 20 years. Needed a decant but opened well n about an hour. Balanced.

I would have to check the cork collection, but quite certain that Chablis is one I've had and very much enjoyed; either way, sounds like a nice night!

Recently opened an 07 Andrew Will Ciel du Cheval for the girlfriend's parents, I had similar feelings as you and just loved it... too bad the gf's father considered it too "strong"... o the French....

Fucking awesome.

I've had all of these wines and you have one of my favorite Syrahs, white burgundy, and a damn fine Brunello. That 1998 is probably singing now too.

the Brunello was the wine of the night for me. Really wonderful.

You guys were right. The Joel Gott Zinfandel was blah. It was flat tasting, with no complexity at all. Even my girlfriend noted how boring it was and she could generally care less about our table wine.

Allocation season. It hurts to spend. Just ordered a six pack from Villa Creek, three Garnacha and three GSM (42% G) blend. Lovely wine and I highly recommend eating there if you are ever in Paso.
