Some Motherf***er stole my plants...

Can you fucking believe it? Some lowlife piece of shit came up onto my balcony and stole my plants. I had about a half dozen strawberry plants (that weren't even producing) and a brilliant raspberry bush that we had grown since last year and was just starting to produce some nice sized berries (we had harvested maybe 10 so far). And they also took a dill plant. But they left a Basil plant and as an apparent cruel joke one scraggy shoot on the raspberry bush. The weird thing is that they didn't try to uproot the plant whole, they just cut at the bottom of the stems as if they're hoping to re-root them somehow. WTF? We're calling the super but it won't do anything, and calling the cops seems retarded. But I'm concerned that they may have seen into our apartment and might return for a more lucrative theft seeing as it was apparently easy enough to get up here the first time. Any ideas on what we could do? A couple years ago we had a bike stolen off our terrace. Other than that we've been fine.

Stop leaving stuff unsecured on your balcony?

Seriously though, that sucks. There's probably not much you can do. The idea that they may have peeked inside is a little disconcerting, I'm sure, but I wouldn't sweat it too much. If they wanted to break in they probably would have done it when they took the plants. There's no reason to steal something only to plan to return later to steal more. I would just be a little more aware for a while, locked doors, etc.

Get a huge NRA sticker, one preferably with an M16 symbol on it, and put it prominently on the window that someone might peer through to see inside your apt.

That's nothing. I've had a metre-high concrete birdbath stolen from my front garden on a sunny day, within the matter of a couple of hours. No-one knew nuthin', not even my nosy neighbours. So basically I'm looking for a ninja with a hernia.
