Maybe this will revive interest in that thread about wearing office shoes to an interview...there are still unsettled questions there. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks. - B
When the day comes when you can once more afford RTW and you clean all of that old crap out of your closet, you will find this thread invaluable. BTW, office pants need only be paired with office shoes when actually in the office. When one is out and about, such pants can be smartly complemented by lounge shoes which are easily identified by the reptilian eyes adorning the vamp.

I don't see the problem with wearing it at night. Unless it is for a specific event? worse comes to worse strap on a blazer and it should be fine :p

I have in mind gray office pants, black shirt, and maybe a black, white & gray Burberry plaid tie. What do you think?

Or are office pants meant solely for the office and chinos meant for nighttime wearing?

It will work, as long as you don't wear house shoes.

Ok, I'll keep the slippers and office pants separate. Office pants and going-out shoes with a button-up office shirt. This thread is putting things together.

Don't you guys mean a button DOWN shirt? After all, this is a button UP shirt since you start at the bottom and button UP:

While this is a button DOWN shirt (or as it is more popularly called, office shirt) since you start at the bottom and button DOWN:

Am I right or am I right?

A shirt with buttons it easier said as either button up or button down. The direction is irrelevant to me.

I merely meant to sympathize with the paradox you posed, sir. I love a good pair of office pants, myself. In fact, your paradox is one of the things I like about them--once they leave the office, they cease being office pants and so I can pair them with whatever I like, without worrying about whether the pairing is appropriate with office pants.

I am planning on having a sportcoat commissioned soon, and was considering having them also do a pair of office pants from the same cloth. Has anyone does this, and if so, how appropriate will said pants be, sans office?

Is underwear required under office pants? What about at night?

An aside: anyone know where I can get a shirt with "Ed Hardy" written on the sleeve? If it has a dragon across the front that would just be icing on the cake.
