+1 on the Eurostar vs. flying between Paris and London. I did the London->Paris back in March and enjoyed it much more than flying. I was also fortunate to get some sort of weekend special, since I traveled on a Sunday, which was a 1st class ticket for a 2nd class price. Quite civilized.

Do you have a tweed fetish or something?

Is that the Airport tax? Not sure of the intricacies, but ya, it is higher at heathrow.

Still, I would look at the total cost, and I find that flights in to the UK are quite competitive and it is frequently used as a transit point for other European destinations. YMMV.

Sounds like the Iles Madelines on this side of the pond. I've always found the Quebecois to be very nice folks. Quebec city is neat as well.

We're expecting surprises and know that there are unknowns that lie ahead. I just don't know what those unknowns are yet.

I proposed Canada, various points, but we're reserving that for when we have the little one situation squared away. Shorter flight, all that.

It depends. If you're single, Brasil. If you're not then it doesn't really matter. Just ask the Misses!

Egypt. Start out in Cairo. See the pyramids (Red, Black, Step, and, of course, Giza); Cairo museum. Travel down the Nile to Luxor, and see all the temples, tombs (valley of the kings). Ferry it to the Sinai coast and chill out for a day or two and climb Mt. Sinai, head back to Cairo...

Doable in a week. Fun stuff.

I lobbied HARD for this, but for kid reasons we will put this off. For now. Still on the list, though.

Can I suggest...Atlanta? The High Museum has a partnership with the Louvre so you're still kind of close to it...the flight is cheap and short... plenty of other things to do here too.

hmmm, don't know if you'd like to rush this, tho'. bet it's in lots of ppl's "bucket list", but i think, Egypt [that region in particular] is so steeped in history that it's just difficult to absorb details in a short time__ much less, appreciate and experience.

tho' def doable, touristically.

It depends what you're looking for but i'd suggest CHARMING HOUSE DD724 HOTEL ,it's a lovely hotel in the heart of Venice and I am a huge fan of Venice so if you've never been then it's definitely worth a visit, although since you're think about going in August then you may prefer a beach holiday so my favourite place to relax by the sea is HOTEL CROATIA. It's got breathtaking sea views and me and my family loved the food and spent all our time on the beach, it's worth going to if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. Hope this helps and you have a great holiday.

I've always thought it would be fun to take some sort of pilgrimage. Get in touch with my spiritual side and all that.
