Upcoming race thread: what's on your schedule?

Curious what races everyone's prepping for.

Me: I just registered for the Aramco half-marathon - January 2010. If by some miracle my mileage jumps and I think I can make the full, I'll switch registrations, but right now the half seems more feasible. In the interim I'll probably knock out a 10k, a couple of local 5k's, and maybe the 20k in October.

Just local 5Ks...I don't train for them. I just show up with a boom box on my shoulder blasting Rod Stewart disco-era tunes with a pair of short shorts on.

I have the NYC 1/2 marathon on August 16 - I'm trying to work on my hydration, as even though it starts at 7AM, it'll be wicked hot and probably pretty humid as well. I'm having a hell of a time - I trained for my first one primarily in the winter, and apparently I excel at running at 5:30am in the snow, but not so much at 8am in the heat.

After that it's another half marathon in October in London. I think racing season in Europe slows down a bit over the winter; the next one I can find that I want to do is in March 2010.

Good luck with your training.

You gotta quilify for Boston you know? I would love to run Boston also, but don't think I'll ever run a sub 3:20 marathon.

My next race is the Long Beach Marathon in October.

You can run it as a charity runner, i.e., running for a cause. Boston allows those, iirc.

But if I were to run it, I'd want to qualify, and sadly, running those times is not in my foreseeable future.

I have a couple 5k's coming up in the next few weeks. One every Saturday for the next 3 weeks. Shouldn't be too bad.

Thomas, I'll run south and you run north and let's see where we meet up.

WHOA Nellie. Sounds brutal.

Just heard that registration for the Aramco half filled up in less than 24 hours. The full marathon filled up a few days later. I remember when you could wait until October to register.

Just did my first relay race this weekend, Hood to Coast. Felt great after my first 2 legs but lost it after a steep downhill on the last leg of the race. Probably just do some 5 and 10k races until next season, possibly do Big Sur next year.

Reviving this thread to mention a 10k next weekend (8 days from now). Mrs. T and mini-T are doing the 5k at the same time, and it's my goal to finish the 10k before they finish their 5.

I've not told them this yet.
