I thought this was great, did a good job of being creative in a genre that's otherwise hard to not follow a by-the-numbers story. While a non-linear timeline isnt new, it worked well as an unseen supporting character. I liked that it never dumbed itself down, the scene where they showed "reality" and "expectation" would have been awful in most other movies that did this, but here it was subtle and played out in a way that we've probably all done ourselves at one point. Another thing it had going for it was how real it was. No scenes where the guy does some incredulous and impossible race against time to get to an airport or something and win back the girl. The most unreal scene (the dance number) was still perfect in its use of context to why it was in the movie. Was cool to see the bar that my friends and I go to so many times in the Day 28 scene, where they are doing karaoke. The way the director depicted LA overall was really nice, it made it almost seem like NYC, where people walk and go to parks, have rooftop parties. I can't ever remember a movie that portrayed LA that way.
