+1, i didnt understand investors who bought into the idea of rapidly increasing demand for a shoe that lasts for a great length of time, looks absolutely horrible and is about as trendy as it gets. I look back and the stock price was something like $60 or 70 at some point, lol. I remember seeing it and thinking....holy shit these people are out of there minds. If i was a shorter, that would have been my stock to short. the company had 1 product, bought up a few other companies making add ons for this same single product.

I think that the company was run by the guy who came up with the origional idea, and that is always a mistake.

I think crocs are great. I wear them to kick around the beach in, they are very comfortable, and they are great for the kids. but the company expanded too fast, and didn't stick to what they knew.

also, they seem to be very easy to pirate, you see pirated crocs everywhere.

If i'm not mistaken, successfully branded companies spend a lot of money defending the brand from knock-offs.

They should have spent at least a part of their profits developing the next fad, or better yet, test marketing several fads to see which the consumers are the most receptive too. Something like a plastic driving shoe with optional horsebit detailing or a set of plastic colored knots for french cuffed shirts, or crocs brand plastic tote that converts to backpack converts to rolling suitcase, etc.

The most retarded thing I ever saw? Sheepskin-lined Crocs. I guess that's their idea of "branching out"...

would they be getting a government bailout?

Final nail in the coffin? The trial lawyer in Tennessee whose 7 year old got her Crocs stuck in an escalator and is planning on suing the company into the stone age.

Ah, the American legal system. Is there any finer?
