What kind of mattress do you use? - Page 2

I prefer the firmest mattress I can find. But, I'm a freak, and spend a lot of time sleeping on the ground and find it incredibly comfortable (see the hiking/backpacking thread).

I generally sleep pretty rough if I go somewhere that has too soft of a mattress. I'm not sure it has anything to do with the mattress, other than it is different than what I'm used to.

also you should sleep on your back like a real man - ready for anything

Got my new sealy cloud mattress 4 months ago. My bed finally showed up last week. Very nice and comfy.

I can sleep on a super soft or firm mattress. I like the softer ones but neither really bothers me.

Actually, Mrs. T wanted Tempurpedic but I balked, thinking Simmons would be the way to go. Then we visited an uncle who has Tempurpedic at home but went with Bedinabox.com for his other house. He swears he can't tell the difference. I can, but don't want to pay Tempur price.

So we went with bedinabox.com. Mrs. T doesn't have any back pain any longer (sleeps like a log, actually), I sleep well enough but think I would have preferred a spring mattress. It's comfortable enough. Now if I could just train the dogs to sleep through the night.

I have Hästens I bought 10 years ago, still no sign of sagging, it came with 25 years warranty. It's the best money I ever spent.

I recommend checking out the memory foam selections on overstock.com . Most of the models are unlabeled name brands. I got a Sealy Posterpedic for a few hundred and it's the best thing I've ever slept on. I have lower back injuries and a dislocated clavicle and it's the only thing so far that keeps me pain free. Plus it came with free foam pillows that I hated at first, but after a few nights found they've eliminated any neck stiffness I formally would occasionally get.
Not to mention $3 delivery is nice.

I've got the W Hotel Pillowtop. Fucking fantastic mattress. Here's the link where I found the deal on it: http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/625405 You might have to hunt for an updated coupon code. Last I saw they were running 40%.

I fucking hate my matress. Any of that memory foam stuff is pure bullshit. Within a week, it's 'remembered' where you slept and the foam forms a very uncomfortable trench in the mattress. I'm *this* close to burning my mattress and throwing a futon mattress on the floor like the Japanese do.

Protip: Mattress topper I also think the pillow has a lot to do with how my neck is aligned, and thus, if it stiffens or hurts in the morning. But I might be wrong. I heard sleeping with a pillow between your legs helps alignment too, but I don't know.

when I moved to LA with no money - I shit you not - bought an ACME brand mattress - from the ad in the back of a newspaper. Went to a shady warehouse to get it and it was great for a month, then...awful. I slept on that bitch for 4+ years cause I was cheap.

Ive since bought a 700 Miralux and looking back I dont know what I was thinking. I will NEVER skimp on a matress again.

I've slept on the firm mattress for a few days now and I think I'm getting used to it.

I think I can make this work if I can find a nice pillow top and a featherbed to put on top of the existing mattress. Anyone have any good recs on a mattress pad/pillow topper only, without the mattress?
