Not sure how true that is - I think it's more of the maintenance thing. Those jets are built to be relatively bulletproof and to operate in tough conditions. I am pretty sure if you look at the crash pattern, most of the accidents will be from small shitty semi-regional airlines that probably have shit maintenance and shit mechanics.

I was actually curious to compare Tu-154 vs Boeing 727 as both are pretty damn identical.

Tu-154: about 900 built

There have been 63 serious flight incidents with Tu-154s, including 36 hull-losses with human fatalities.[15] Six of those incidents resulted from terrorist or military action, several from poor runway conditions (including one which struck snow ploughs on the runway), and mid-air collisions due to faulty air traffic control. Other incidents have resulted from mechanical problems (two cases prior to 1998), running out of fuel on unscheduled extended route, pilot error, and cargo fires.

Boeing 727: about 1800 built

As of 2007, a total of 282 incidents involving 727s had occurred, including 106 hull-loss accidents[12] resulting in a total of 3,703 fatalities. The 727 has also been in 178 hijackings involving 256 fatalities.[13]

Totally did not expect this

Comment probably applies to Caspian as well, it being an Iranian airline, poor maintenance and whatnot

Law of probabities? There have been, over the past few decades, several instances where you will have many crashes in a small period (say, one or two months). About once every 7-8 years on average.

I've noticed JetBlast is always missing when these tragedies occur.

How long will it be before the Iranian press/govt blames this on Israel and/or the US?
