What kind of shoes fits this rock-ish style?

I currently have no specific style at all, and noticed that one of my favorite bands, Dir en Grey, sometimes has the perfect combination of being kinda stylish. But at the same time being able to come across as obvious rocker/metal heads (They go though all sorts of styles, but the pictures below is more what I'm talking about). I love the normal metal style of metal heads, but a lot of it has too much of a homeless looking thing. Which I don't see myself in. And I'm quite happy with what I've done so far in experimenting with this look. But my problem is shoes. Which I have absolutely no idea about. So I'm hoping some of you have ideas for what kinds of shoes that would fit? (Edit: Hm... Maybe this is better suited in the Ultimate Noob Thread). Click for larger pictures:

You can look up pictures of the band. Personally I've seen the shoes they wear and it all seems really mismatched. I hate most japanese visual bands and it seems like they wear nothin but platform boots. I don't think what you're thinking of doing is specific enough. Are you going for a classy look or exactly like Dir En Grey? Personally I dress neo-victorian so I'm always wearing a vest of some sort and the missing piece to my wardrobe right now is a sick pair of balmoral boots (price range $300-$1300) So I'm just wearing vans half cabs. They seem to go well with anything. You can try chucks too. If you got the money I bet AMQ pumas would work too. But platform boots? ew... no, don't do it. Not only do they look bad they also look cheap. edit: Oh yea, /IN BEFORE SOMEONE MAKES A USELESS POST

This is one of the few pictures I found of their shoes earlier, and... Yeah, I'm not getting the "that looks good" feeling from em. But... I'm not copying them because I'm such a Diru fan, it's because I happened to find a few pictures of them looking great. So I have no interest in looking exactly like them. I just have a lousy eye for clothing and I'm not experienced or knowledgeable enough to start picking out shoes by myself yet. Thanks for the suggestions so far, I'll check em out.

Maybe work on figuring out your style first. I wasted a lot of money on clothes that I'll never wear again before I found my current style.

Hehe, we'll I gotta start somewhere And for now I'm happy if I can get maybe 3-5 complete sets of different clothes that match. There is already 3 of em in the pictures. And I wont have to spend too much money on that stuff. Also I'll be a lot more pleased with my clothes if I can look close to that, than what I look like now. Which is horribly boring.

Chelsea's arent bad, military/combat boots can work with that too, I just wouldnt go for creepers or doc's with that get up, would look to generic IMHO.

Motorcycle boots, harness boots look like they'd go best.

I wouldn't go for that look unless you're confident you can pull it off, though, otherwise you're going to look terribly cheesy.

Generic isn't all that bad considering OP, by his own admission, is simply learning to put outfits together.

I almost fully agree. Almost.

Definitely don't try anything close to this unless you can carry it well.

I'd say if you're decently slim or well-proportioned, go with a motorcycle-style or cowboy boot, but a 'sharper' boot with a higher heel.

JMHO.

Pointy shoes you can get from Rakuten/other Japanese online retailers. Look at some of my WAYWT pics. I usually wear that type.

Got these ages ago, but have since gone to a bit taller heel and different colors/styles
