Please help me decide what kind of shampoo and conditioner to get. I usually just shop at wal-mart, target, etc. but there are sooo many choices I have no clue what I am looking for. I have always had short hair, but now I am in the process of growing it out. I have thick/course hair that is pretty dry, and along with that comes poofiness that id like to address as well. Like I said, I need something that is fairly common. Or even what kind of ingriedients to look for. Thanks for any help.

If using hair products targeted at women frightens you, I'd suggest American Crew (which is targeted specifically at men). It's a little pricey (not as expensive as Frederick Fekkai or Bumble and Bumble), but it's definitely worth it. My local Target stocks it, and I've seen it at some grocery stores around me,

Your choices:

2 types of shampoo = Regular shampoo or shampoo for chemically treated hair.

2 types of conditioner = Moisturizing conditioner or protein conditioner for chemically treated hair.

You want regular shampoo and moisturizing conditioner.

You'll typically find products with better ingredients at salons (mostly, but not always).

Now, go forth and consume...

I grew up with Pantene Pro-V, and though I've switched recently, I still think its a great shampoo for the money. I recently opted for American Crew; it was a gift set, so I have been using that instead, and it's great! As another poster said, it's targeted for the male, so good scents and no bullshit. Can't go wrong with these two. Good luck

I've been using Nexxus for the past couple years and have no complaints.

Most of them pretty much do the same damn thing.... my way of choosing is simple, just go with what my girl recommends, can't go wrong with chicks who take care of their long hair every day lol

The only thing that I've found with Nexxus is that it can be very 'heavy' and weigh down hair. They seem to use a lot of heavy humectants.

I doubt most people that replied have the same type of hair as you (thick, coarse, dry, poofy, etc.) so I would keep that in mind. You would probably be able to find a really good shampoo by visiting several beauty supply stores. There are a lot of shampoos now for your type of hair (mine too) that keep the frizz managed and the hair moisturized for shine.

One brand for shampoo/conditioner that I like for myself is Rene Furterer. There are probably others that are just as good, but in my opinion it would probably be very difficult to find something better.

Get the cheap shit. It's all sodium laurel sulfate anyway.
