Hello, Kai . . . I think Liz had a very, very short lifespan, during which she could be considered to be beautiful, or striking. Between her health troubles, the drinking, drugs, and weight fluctuations . . . Liz went downhill, rather fast. At least, that's my opinion. Very bad taste in clothes and hair assembly, too.

Liz with last husband, Larry Fortensky

The two of them used to go motorcycle riding, together. By this time, Liz wore a helmet at all times . . . just in case.

Perhaps some Marlene Dietrich who tended to look plastic in certain shots: Another vintage glamour girl with certain extravagant eccentricities would be Mexico's Maria Felix:

I suppose she had compensation with her very considerable jewels.

I had only ever seen her in her later years, and couldn't quite figure out what all the fuss was about. Then I saw Ivanhoe, and it became very clear why she was considered a real beauty back in her prime. She was really quite stunning in that movie.

I remember John Belushi on SNL playing Liz in a spoof. It was sad how much he looked like her in her later years.

I had exactly the same experience. No idea why there was a fuss about her when I was a kid. Then I caught one of her old movies, maybe Giant, and didn't even recognize her. She was gorgeous. And actually, it looks like she's looking a bit healthier now than in the 80s, which is good to see.

fair enough point i suppose. i understand zadie smith being a contentious suggestion (itz cus she's proper clever innit), but varma really is lovely, especially in the god-awful film kama sutra.

i've just been to see a doctor, she looked almost exactly like aishwarya rai:

unfortunately, i don't believe she found the discussion we had about my fungal toenail infection particularly seductive. bollocks.

I feel for you. The first few times I went to my endocrinologist (sp?) I was nearly dumbstruck because she's so attractive. But all she could talk about was diabetes this, insulin that, blah blah blah blah.
