I agree that Dunn is undervalued. He does have the high K total... but the walks do offset them.

He should be the Mets 1B. At least he would provide some pop in that lineup. With the OBP he has, perhaps he could hit #4 in the lineup.

Adam Dunn was worth $5.9mil last year and got paid $13mil. As a 1B, he'd be able to hide some of his defensive shortcomings, but he's not good at 1B defensively, either (about 1 win below average over a full season). He'd be better as a DH, but then the positional adjustment (-17.5 runs) would mean that he's simply not worth that much money and definitely not undervalued.

I try to stick to the more traditional metrics. Not into replacement value and crap like that. Therefore... Adam Dunn is good enough for me. OPS of over .900 is good enough for me. By your logic, Jim Thome also has no value.
