Vegas Restaurant Choice: Boulud or Bouchon? - Page 3

One thing about Bouchon in LV - at least last week - the servings were enormous. My big party ordered way too much food. I wish i had known before ordering. The foie and pate were highlights for me. The food and service were both solid if unspectacular. I was staying at the MGM Signature and wanted to try one of the Robuchon spots. One thing that surprised me walking by was that they are in sort of a dark depressing spot in the casino. I'm a Vegas newb, though, and maybe everyone else knows to take that kind of thing for granted.

Vegas is still a little hurting vis a vis the economy. When things are booming, there are no dark depressing spots in a casino. They do want it to be a little quieter near the mansion, though... hence the big double door that's never open.

I had one of the two best meals I've ever had in the US at Picasso a few weeks ago. This is not food for the person who wants to be impressed by new techniques or odd combinations, rather it is food for the person who respects perfectly cooked and seasoned dishes served with very natural sauces and not a lot of pretense. Much more what you would have expected in Paris in the 90s than in the US in the oughts.

I don't know if we ever discussed this but I have a very good feeling that you would eat quite happily inside and in the country around Lyon. You've been, no?

Yes. Absolutely love the food, both high end and every day, around there.
