No, it really is great. I can never decide which is Billy Wilder's best "dark" movie. This or Sunset Blvd. Note, I didn't use the term film-noir since I don't think Sunset Blvd. is technically a film noir movie.

Perhaps, your cohort FNB, will give us some expert input.

Several scenes in DI were filmed just blocks away from my place in LA. So much has changed since then (market is now the post office, skating rink is now an apt building) that it's nice to have it preserved on film, especially since it's a rather good one at that.

Crackling dialogue. Great suspense; all the better because it starts off with the murder confession.

It is a great movie. I saw it in my film class a few years back, definitely an underrated gem.
