Never been. Probably won't ever go.
I've heard that as far as quickservice restaurants go, they're one of the best in terms of organic produce and things like that.

Chipotle is a public company now. Their stock has done very well so far this year! I believe McDonalds sold their stake a couple of years ago.

Best option is the burrito bol (bowl). Go easy on the rice and add lettuce. If you're watching your diet look at the calories counter on their site, some of the options are very heavy on the oil (onions/peppers, corn salsa, salad dressing). The chips would be OK if they kept them warm, but they get cold sitting in those bags. The guac is great and well worth the extra $1.75. The steak is good if it's freshly cooked (medium), otherwise all the other meats are reliable.

The rice is pretty damn bad too. Have you seen them make it? They have a bowl of rice, and ladel cups and cups of oil into it. That's why it's so damn delicious, though.

baja fresh and even qdobo are better. everything at chipotle tastes like nothing but salt to me.

I've never eaten at a Qdobo. I'm not big on chains, much less chain Mexican, and can't bring myself to pay Qdobo's prices for what I suspect will be the same thing I can get elsewhere for less. Am I missing out?

Wow. -1. As salty as Chipotle is, I find it much tastier than Baja Fresh. Qdobo is an embarrassment. I used to love it back in college when it was the only Mexican joint, but after having it recently for old time's sake, I couldn't believe I ever thought this place was the shit. But then again, I live in South Bay, where there are so many great, authentic burrito joints.

Any fans living in the LA/SD area feel free to drop me your mailing address so I can come over and stab you repeatedly on my next trip home. You really have no excuses considering the plethora of real Mexican options in nearly every city. Or if you're Mr.Americanized Mexican, at least give Sharky's a try on your journey towards Mexican Mexican food. At least their food is actually good.

Pro tip for the Baja crowd: if you find yourself going to a party with a bottle of tequila but forget to bring limes, swing by a baja fresh, buy a cup for soda, and load it up with all the fresh-cut limes you can fill it with. It'll save you time, money, and hassle.
