While the hotel and the location were both good, there was a giant construction project going on in the next block that never shut down (i.e. 24-hour a day pile driving sounds making sleep fairly impossible even with a pillow clutched over one's head.)

That's why i always wear take ear plugs with me.

The Kempinski is lovely, however the area it is located in becomes very difficult to get to in the evening, especially weekends. Gridlock in Istanbul is notorious, even at 1 a.m. If you use the hotel cars, or hire a driver, they know how to navigate the city by jumping over the hills, getting on the new freeways, then going back down again. The cabs will just take the most circuitious route, while the meter runs. The Park Hyatt is excellent, further up in Mackas.

You have to give us an idea of what kind of hotel. Not a Hyatt is a shitty answer. You want to stay at the Ritz, or you prefer a hostel? Neither of those is on the Hyatt level.
