those pants are just like the fatigues from engineered. except they've been horribly distressed as usual.

why does j.crew continue to do this. they'd have so much more of my money if they stopped and let me distress them myself.

The store has other things that aren't online, in shirts and other things. I haven't seen those pants online either.

I don't know. I don't mind the distressing myself.

Are those pants or shorts? I have the shorts version myself but didn't know they made a pants version of it too.

My eye was drawn to that shirt as soon as I entered the men's area.

On a side note, yesterday afternoon I also visited this good vintage shop in town. Good because they handpick their stuff very carefully. Stuff is always in good shape and it's obvious they pay attention to current trends. So their shirt rack was stuffed with tartan l/s buttondowns, and the tags said they were from the late 70s and early 80s. The shirts were very nice, most by either Ralph Lauren or Gant. Looking through them, I realized that all the tartan shirts I had in the late 70s/early 80s were probably Gants.

So I tried some on, and wow, they were like wearing bags! Hugely puffy in the back especially. Everything else fit--shoulder seams, sleeve lenght, etc., and I would have copped a couple of them if not for the bagginess.

Excuse my ignorance, but do the tartan shirts feet like a light flannel? or like their regular secret wash shirts?

Like other secret wash shirts. 2-ply cotton. To me the hand is slightly "crisper" than other secret wash shirts.

Problem is the one nearest to me is about an hour away and it's only women's...the closest that carries men's is an hour and forty five.

Stopped by my local store and picked up a thermal henley and one of the on sale secret wash button down shirts. The cashier applied the student discount to both items, even though I think the policy is that the student discount only applies to full price items. I also wanted to pick up the sueded crewneck sweater, but they only carried the 'heathered longsleeve crewneck' (I think the sueded one is thicker) instock, and the Red Wing rugged classics. I ordered both of those on the red phone (first time ordering that way) - still got the student discount and free shipping. Those two items came out to ~225 with the discount, which is what the boots are listed at.

I really like some of the new button downs, but I don't really wear them enough to justify paying $60...just hope the styles I like make it to sale/ebay/FS here.

Almost went for the thermal henley myself but decided to get the other kind in a charcoal grey. Looks like a great layering piece with my green fatigue pants.

Anyone know what happened to the Vintage Oxfords? I like the material better on those than the pinpoints.

I bought one the other day at a J Crew Factory store. Excellent fit and fabric.

I just had the length taken up on my Blue Vintage Oxford, well worth the $8 alteration and can now be worn untucked publicly.
