Hell yes

Some of Schiaparelli’s outfits were designed to transition from day to night, such as a dress that could be shortened by tying the skirt back or lengthened by untying it. She also developed the concept of a ladies’ evening jacket, to be paired with a matching dress for added warmth and elegance after the sun had set.

Clothing that could metamorphose was especially prized during the tight years of the early Depression. “She continued the challenge of interchangeable pieces that could be used in various ways: sashes that turned into impromptu skirts, jackets that became headdresses, skirts that became capes. She also liked hidden pockets, skirts that looked like trousers and vice versa, whatever was versatile and unexpected,” writes Secrest.

Sounds very cool. Would love to see more of that stuff, in my mind this is like a couture meets Final Home kinda thing. Love a nice hidden or well integrated pocket too, stealth functionality.

1930 transformable beach suit in silk. The jacket is reversible, the dress is made of two separate halves tied together.

Can you describe her aesthetic?
atm its just flat out bad
Sporty Spice maybe?

She has somewhat of a nerdy look.
38yr old, was into the punk scene in her younger years.

She's not in the corporate world so she doesnt have to dress for work.
Im about talking casual clothes

walking around the city, running errands, etc...

Not sure how helpful this is for you, but I've found these subreddits good for a later-on intro to women's clothing

As it's popular and accessible, Reddit can be a good starting spot. Both communities are healthy with good posters & resources. Search works, if she has specific questions—also helpful for finding blogs or instagram accounts with styles she vibes with.

I started dressing my clothing-clueless partner, helping find her style, etc. and these spots helped me with the basics.

Ok that's somewhat helpful.

I kinda feel like the sporty spice look is in right now, at least for younger girls. Every single college girl I see walking around my town is wearing sweatpants or mom jeans, sneakers, and some kind of top with the midriff exposed. It's not my vibe, but it seems to be the thing. And then they wear those winter jackets with the brand name patch on the upper sleeve, I forget the brand. It's actually pretty dreadful, but again it's teh cool thing.

I agree with vulpes, though, that the best thing for her to do is the look at pics and see what aesthetic appeals to her, even if it's a bland one--and then to just zero in on the basic pieces needed to create that look. I think if you can get the right shoes you're 40% of the way there.

As much as I hate celebrities, I might have her take a glance at what they're wearing nowadays.
