i feel better throughout the day if i workout in the morning, before going to work. however, i have a hard time getting myself out of bed, so i often workout at night.

which do you prefer and why?

Evening. It's hard enough for me to get myself to stumble into the shower in the morning, much less do squats. Plus I always get a burst of energy once the sun goes down. My father, on the other hand, is a confirmed morning person, and can't imagine a better way to start the day. Different strokes, etc.

I used to prefer evening, back when I went every day to the gym and hung out for a while. now I like to spend the time with my family in the evening, so I go to the gym first thing in the morning.

Evening workouts are my favorite but since trying morning workouts, I like those also.

I have noticed that I must go about each workout differently. If I do it in the morning I have to do different excercises than in the evening.

Morning consists of more stretching and less strength or really 'pushing it'. More warming up. Actually, I like yoga or something like that. In the evening, I am stronger, more flexible, and can 'push it' more as I am already awake and probably have some stress from the day. I also do some stretching after the workout in the evening to calm down.

Noon. I work out at the gym in my office building, and found that time to work the best with my schedule -- it lets me get work done in the morning and fight lag in the afternoon.

Evenings on weekdays and mornings on weekends. Of course, lately it's been neither.

Mid morning - pretty much the same reasons as Ambulance Chaser. Gym is 2 minutes from my office, at a leisurely pace.

I'm a morning person. I find that when I plann on workingout in the evening, invariably, something comes up that prevents me from going. Working out in the morning is the only way to ensure that I'll actually workout at all.

When I can escape for a few hours during the week, I'll go around 3pm. I get the best workouts around this time, and I don't mind working into the evenings. During the weekends, it's definitely mid-afternoon.

I much prefer to work out in the evening - typically I'll stop and get my workout in on the way home from work.

I just don't have the strength or energy in the morning to work out.

Early morning workouts reportedly increase the chances of getting sick.

Evening workouts can disrupt the sleep schedule, especially if you have a meal afterwards, as is recommended.

I seem to be getting a better sleep after I workout than usually. I've also heard that in the evening the body produces some substance (teostorone?) which increases the muscle building abilities of the body. Can't remember, maybe it was the metabolism stuff. Anyway, I'm also a evening workout type. Don't have the urge in the morning.

Either a 30-40 minute walk over lunch or a 45 minute walk/run in the evening.

Usually about 10pm to 11pm for me, then I relax for half an hour (read SF, check email), have a piece of fruit, take a shower, and go straight to bed. Up at 6:30 a.m.
