hello gents..
just getting into bespoke suits with ww chan, been the experience of a lifetime so far. i have had a charcoal grey suit, a mid-grey flannel suit, a grey tweed odd jacket with 3 buttons, and a couple pairs of grey flannnel trousers made up so far.

for my next commission i was thinking to go with no. 339053 holland and sherry crispaire from ww chan. going with patch pockets, 2 button..
was thinking whether or not i should commission trousers and if this would work as a "blazersuit"..thoughts?

Gray? I have blazersuit type things in Minnis Fresco, Smiths Finmeresco and HS Crispaire, listed in order of increasing smoothness/formality and perhaps decreasing love, for me at least. I would probably not order from Crispaire again. I do like my one Smiths suit a lot. But I've just ordered my third from Minnis. It's the more porous and informal, the cheapest, and has the most interesting mottling -- at least for the colors I've been ordering (dark brown, mid blue, and dark gray).

Minnis 0516 is a Navy Blue. Would be my recommendation.

How often do you find yourself wearing the brown, either as full suit, or just jacket?

which weight would the minnis be? my previous commissions are heavy (flannel and charcoal grey in heavier weight) so wanted something of medium weight, definately not heavy or lightweight..

i will have to have a look at the minnis and smiths. thank you

great! and this would work in a blazer suit type scenario? i wanted to be able to wear the jacket with jeans/informally as well..

I wear the jacket often and the suit rarely. But that's true in general.

I think they make three weights. I've only tried the medium one, 9/10 oz. The Smiths comes in 3 ply 9/10 that's smooth like Crispaire, I think, and 4 ply 11 oz that's more porous, like the Minnis 9/10. I love the darkish blue Smiths blazersuit, but the Minnis 0516 would be great too. It's a flat blue, right? Not heathered like the 0520? I would probably not wear the Minnis 0520 w/ blue jeans just because that'd be too much blue heathering together imo.

Will Chan send you swatches? Was just wondering myself--am debating having a Chan made, but in a year or so will likely be moving to a city where they dont travel...

They used to send a swatch if you were interested in a fabric, but these days they just e-mail you an image. At least such has been my experience.

Correct. But if you ask they will still send you a swatch-at least a year ago.

Hi Guys,

 

I will be making my first WW Chan suit come 8 Jan 2013 when I have a layover in HK for 10 hours.

I called in to check if a single fitting was sufficient and they were confident enough to assure me that it was so.

They also advised that an appointment could be made during their US tour stop in Chicago if anything was unsatisfactory.

 

I am 21 years young and entirely new to bespoke clothing. The suit will mainly be worn to bi-weekly/weekly business faculty meetings at my college.

I think I will be going for an understated and simple navy blue. Was wondering if anyone who bought a suit with them recently could chime in on the cloths they carry which represent better value (since they dont do CMT)? Any other advice is also appreciated! Thank you.
