Erghh, you realize that this thread is tongue-in-cheek right? Hence the title... Eitherway, it still seems like you're mostly trying to troll me so ignore list you go.

She asked me how much they cost and I said, "I'd prefer not to say."

She's 14 years younger than me.

Come on, Michelle is always talking about how her outfits are JCrew, which most people still perceive as a "luxury" brand albeit an attainable one.

Like I said, I don't think "How much did it cost?" is a compliment. Maybe something like "Oh where did you get it?" or "What brand is that", but cost? How, in anyway, is that a compliment to someone?

I once made the mistake of answering someone who asked how much my jeans cost. It's a trap. If someone ever asks you how much an item of clothing costs, just run away.

Just being funny or did this really happen? I'm kind of intrigued by this response...

As for cost of clothes and such, I never bring it up with my friends, and no one ever asks me. I can recall one conversation where most everyone was sitting around talking about how they have never spent more than $10 on jeans. I have no idea how I would answer if anyone asked because in their minds, there's no way to justify what we spend on clothes.

It's like when your mom asks you what band you are listening to or anyone over the age of 40 asks you some technology related question. No matter what you answer you are going to wind up sounding like a smug, smarmy asshole.

What band is that?
Well, it's actually three exclamation points. But you pronounce it chk chk chk.

If you lie about your clothes and pretend you don't know how much they cost, it seems like false modesty, and they know you just won't tell them cause the answer is "way too much for a pair of jeans." If you tell the truth, then you get pegged forever as that emo asshole with 200 dollar jeans.

The only safe option is to just run away.

Hmm, actually, this is a more difficult subject than I originally thought. For instance, if you had a horseshoe on your backpocket then no one would need to ask, because they would already know, and the price points between that and a lot of what SFers wear isn't too great yet the former will be greatly accepted even though they're both jeans.
