I wear black on the outside because black is how I feel on the inside...

Sigh...

I can't believe you started a thread to appreciate both The Smiths AND Morrissey in the same place. Morrissey will have your ass for this.

Well, Mozza might but I don't care.
Yesterday, I listened to The World Won't Listen, followed by Bona Drag.

Now I just need to find where I put Meat is Murder...

I'am in absolute love with Piccadilly Palare.
I was just about to post that in "what are you listening to" thread and to my surprise this was top of the page.

Irish blood, English heart, this I'm made of-

No, that's not true at all. I do dream of a time when the English are sick to death of labor and tories, though I don't know what that means.

God, so good, but I must admit that I can't help but laugh a little whenever I hear this song.

Y'all pathetic.

When I worked at GSU's radio station (it is a really good one too) one of my friends was really into Morrissey and the Smiths, that type of fey British bullshit and I told him "here is every Morrissey song ever: I want to die with you to be with you forever OHOHOHOHOWOWOWOWOWOW, or I am so miserable and lonely OHOHOHOHOHOHOWOWOWOWOW" and he got so offended and indignant it was HIGH-larious.

This thread should be titled "I cried til I died"

what's trippy is that Morrissey did a small stint singing for punk/oi band Slaughter and The Dogs, right before the Smiths

They have Smith/Morrissey convention here in LA every year, went once a few years ago, the crowd was 99.9% mexican kids under 25

I can love the Smiths and Morrissey and still find this funny.

Consensus is yes indeed, though many also cite Bobby D as being equally responsible. I think musically speaking Morissey and The Smiths inspired and continue to inspire a lot of modern alternative, emo, indie, what have you. Stupid genre names.

I have seen more big time celebrities on the LAX to Heathrow than anywhere else. The biggest was Mel Gibson.

naw, the real grandfather of emo (unfortunately) is Ian MacKaye since his 1984 band Embrace coined the term "emo" and the bands that followed suit used it to describe their sound (Rites of Spring, Kingface, Soulside, etc)
